The British Touring Car Championship has been around since 1958. It is one of the most famous and contested championships in Europe along with the DTM. In 1997, a French car driven by a Swiss caused a sensation: Alain Menu’s Renault Laguna. Vice-champion in 1994, 1995 and 1996, Menu finally won the top prize in 1997 after a near-perfect season. More than enough to honour the Williams Renault Dealer Racing team, which entered the official Renault Laguna in BTCC. Menu's car also became a video game star as it was featured on the cover of TOCA - Touring Car Championship on PC and Playstation 1. The first installment of the new Codemasters license crossed the years as a benchmark of the genre, and helped prolong the popularity of the Laguna de Menu throughout the years.
